SHANN’S TRICHOLOGICAL APPROACH TO HAIR CARE
Shann Christen’s mission to help everyone attain gorgeous, luxurious, healthy hair is one that started in part when he began to lose his own hair five years ago. Disillusioned after seeing a dermatologist who prescribed everything from Rogaine, to Propecia to hormone scalp injections, which left him with mood swings and hair that was dry and lifeless, while still falling out, Christen’s life changed after a meeting with a trichologist.
After undergoing treatment that resulted in his hair growing back, Christen decided to take it a step further and actually began studying trichology (the scientific study of the hair and scalp). What resulted was an approach to hair care that combines his 12 years of traditional experience with scientific information. Today, Christen calls himself a trichology consultant and has successfully treated even the most frustrated men and women dealing with hair loss.
Read on, as Christen offers a few simple ways in which people can immediately begin to change the quality of their hair. Some of these tips may be recognized by his recent appearance on top entertainment TV show Extra.
Shampoo: Have 4 or 5 different shampoos, depending on what your hair tells you it needs at the time. Use different shampoos for dryness, to exfoliate the scalp, add proteins, etc. Quick tip: If your skin and lips are dry, your hair and scalp probably is too. Therefore, use a shampoo and conditioner that address that particular issue.
Hydrate: Drink tons of water. This will improve the hydration level of your scalp, which will cause your hair system to function a whole lot better. To drastically improve your hair texture and its functioning, drink 2 liters of water for every 40 pounds that you weigh, everyday, for two weeks.
Another scalp hydration alternative (available at Shann Christen Studio Salon) is the Osmotique Hydration Treatment. This 30-minute steam/gel/bio treatment actually pulls water up from inside the body to the scalp, creating lasting hydration levels never before seen. This treatment has resurrected even the most damaged hair and stimulated scalps.
Relieve Stress: Find ways to relax. Stress reeks havoc on our hair. It makes the body run hotter, which burns up our water supply. The hotter the body, the less water we have to hydrate the scalp.
Diet: Be aware of meats, acidic and spicy foods. For every 2 acidic foods eat two alkaline foods to keep the body running at a good PH of water. Meats, acidic and spicy foods make the body run hotter, which causes more stress and burns more water.
Avoid over-styling: Let hair dry naturally or dry it with cool air. Multiple heat applications such as blow drying and hot ironing cause hair to become dry, brittle and in many cases, to break.
Consult a trichologist or a hair stylist very familiar with trichology studies to treat serious hair loss issues. Dermatologists are not trained to conduct the diagnostic analysis that trichologist perform. |
